Aizome is a dyeing process that uses the indigo plant, a member of the tapeworm family. Using soft sheepskin, the process of hand-dyeing and dipping in a barrel of indigo dye was repeated three times to produce the elegant indigo dye “Japan Blue,” a traditional Japanese color. The box-shaped case makes it easy to see the coins inside and take them out at a glance.
